To start the New Year off the Hubs and I took a mini escape to Langdon Hall, a Relais and Chateau hotel and spa in Cambridge, ON. It’s a gorgeous country estate with luxury rooms and suites, a pampering spa and amazing food.
We indulged for just one night (and that’s really all you need) with the Country Retreat package that includes one night’s accommodation, three course dinner and full country breakfast. We didn’t have the funds for any spa treatments, but maybe next time. We stayed in the Cloister Rooms which are enormous! Our room had a wood burning fireplace (so cozy), king size bed and a huge bathroom with luxurious bathtub and wet room shower (I love fancy bathrooms).
The dining is delicious, a little on the formal side, but we managed not to giggle too much at the starry-eyed couples holding hands and staring into each others eyes. I had Digby scallops to start and grain fed steak as my main, while the Hubs went for a much healthier artic char dish, but the main attraction was the dessert – a very rich chocolate peanut butter number (I couldn’t even finish it!). We topped off the retreat with a yummy breakfast complete with fresh squeezed juice, pumpkin spice pancakes and french toast with bacon (I’m still full!).
While we recognize this getaway was in no way symbolic of what our year will look like I’m glad we took the time to indulge and relax just for one night.
